My love for hostas began in
1996 after visiting Hidden Lake Gardens in Tipton Michigan... the
gardens are one of several operated by Michigan State
University....situated along the shore of Hidden Lake, the hillside
garden provides the perfect shaded setting for hosta.
More than 700 cultivars are displayed here showing off the wide variety
of foliage colors, textures, and sizes of hosta that are available.The
Benedict Hosta Collection, also known as Hosta Hillside, is located on
the site of the original rock garden built by Mr. Fee in the 1940’s.
This is also an Offical American Hosta Society Display Garden, so
designated in 1995, and was only the second garden in the country to
receive this distinction. The Hosta Hybridizers area was added in 2005,
showcasing the introductions of Michigan Hosta Hybridizers. The
